Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal set to go past Kesari, emerge as his biggest opener of 2019 Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal set to go past Kesari, emerge as his biggest opener of 2019 Just four days remain for the release of Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal and the film has strategically heated up well en route its arrival in theatres. The campaign has been pretty well crafted, right from the time the film was announced and now that the D-day is just round the corner, one expects the start to be pretty good as well. This year, Akshay Kumar has already seen a Rs. 150 Crore Club hit in the form of Kesari. Released on the partial holiday of Holi, the film had clocked Rs. 21.06 crores on its opening day. Now if the trending for Mission Mangal is anything to go by, that number should be comfortably surpassed. Of course, numbers like Rs. 25 crores and even Rs. 30 crores are being thrown around. However, the first target for the Akshay Kumar starrer would be emerge as his biggest opener of 2019, which means go past the Rs. 21 crores mark. Of course, the film has a major advantage of releasing on the national holiday of Independence Day. However that would also be offset by a fair degree due to clash with John Abraham's Batla House, which is carrying good reports as well. All of that means that it would be good day for the audiences as well as the industry at large to have houseful signs across majority of shows in most screens. Still, when it comes to record breaking numbers for the actors, it is going to be a wait and watch scenario. In fact last year itself Akshay Kumar had set a personal record for himself when Gold netted Rs. 25.25 crores on its first day. Incidentally that too was on Independence Day and yet again the clash was with a John Abraham starrer, Satyameva Jayate. Gold was a much bigger film in terms of scale and size and the sports drama rightfully opened quite well despite competition. Now that Balki produced and Fox Star Studios backed Mission Mangal is arriving, it is giving an impression of being more of a slice of life entertainer instead of being one of those sci-fi biggies that one is used to seeing from Hollywood. That said, Mission Mangal also has a major advantage of many notable leading ladies with Vidya Balan not just leading the show but also lending a very adorable feel. All of this means that Mission Mangal could well end up finding itself on the upside of Rs. 25 crores. However, for now, the first target would be cross Kesari and hence emerge as yet another Akshay Kumar starrer to open in the 20s. Given the kind of budget that the film carries and the fact that it was completed in 32 days flat, that by itself would make it a safe proposition. Akshay Kumar's biggest openers Gold – Rs. 25.25 crores Singh Is Blinng – Rs. 20.67 crores 2.0 (Hindi) – Rs. 20.25 crores Kesari – Rs. 21.06 crores Also Read: Sonakshi Sinha PUSHES Akshay Kumar off his chair and it is straight-up hilarious! https://ift.tt/2yTa85s
