Happy Birthday Ranbir Kapoor: After staying away from the big screen for nearly 4 years, the talented actor to have as many as 4 releases in 1 ½ years, starting March 2022 One of the most popular actors, Ranbir Kapoor, turns 39 today. He started his career with a bang and proved to be a good looking actor with oodles of talent. He had a bit of a rough time from 2013 to 2017. But he bounced back with Sanju (2018), directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film managed to collect Rs. 342.53 crore and proved that Ranbir is not just here to stay but also rule. It’s been nearly 3 ½ years since Sanju was released and Ranbir hasn’t come up with another release yet. Partly, it is due to the lockdown related delays. However, the good news is that if all goes well, as many as 4 films of Ranbir Kapoor would be released in a span of 1 ½ years, starting from March 2022! On the occasion of his birthday, Bollywood Hungama brings to you the update on the status of Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming films and when these movies can possibly have a release. 1. Shamshera: This would probably be Ranbir Kapoor’s first release in nearly 4 years as it arrives in cinemas on March 18, 2022, on Holi. It’s a period action drama directed by Agneepath (2012) director Karan Malhotra and also features Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. The shoot of the film was affected due to the pandemic but it was completed last year. 2. Brahmastra: Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this fantasy adventure’s shoot is still not complete as per a source. The film went on floors in 2018 and faced multiple delays due to the double lockdowns, Ranbir and lead actress Alia Bhatt getting infected with Covid-19, etc. However, a source tells us, “Only a few days of shooting are left and then it’ll be a wrap. The post-production work is going on simultaneously and the film will be ready soon.” Brahmastra would release in cinemas in the first half of 2022, if not in the first quarter of 2022. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna. Shah Rukh Khan features in a special appearance in this fare which is mounted as a three-part sci-fi saga 3. Luv Ranjan’s next: Ranbir Kapoor gets back into the light romcom space with this film which also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Boney Kapoor. Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film’s shoot in India has been reportedly completed. Its overseas portions are yet to be filmed. The film is expected to release in the second half of 2022. 4. Animal: Ranbir has joined hands with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, director of the surprise blockbuster Kabir Singh (2019), for this big-scale entertainer. It also stars Parineeti Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol and its initial release date was October 5, 2022. Whether it manages to make it on that day in cinemas or whether it gets pushed to 2022-end or early 2023 remains to be seen.
