The actor is set to essay the role of a gay man in Aanand L Rai's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Known for taking up unique roles, the actor says that it is important to make films on gay rights. Ayushmann Khurrana recently said that Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is an important film in the commercial mainstream space. He said that he is important for the film to be in the commercial sphere so that way you are not preaching the converted. He added that they have to reach the lowest common denominator and are probably talking to those who have biases against homosexuals. Ayushmann said that these people should watch the film and realize why it is important to give gay people their rights. It was recently revealed that Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, Ayushmann’s onscreen parents from Badhaai Ho, have been roped in for the sequel of the 2017 sleeper hit. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is set to release on February 14, 2020. The film, produced by Aanand L Rai, will be directed by Hitesh Kewalya. It will clash with Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan‘s love story which is being directed by Imtiaz Ali.
