Karisma Kapoor reveals how Govinda taught her DANCE in real sense Karisma Kapoor reveals how Govinda taught her DANCE in real sense Karisma Kapoor and Govinda’s pairing on screen was one of the highlights of the 90s. They were hugely popular, thanks to the movies like Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, among many others. Karisma recalled on the sets of Dance India Dance that she learnt dance from Govinda and she was his huge fan. She shared an anecdote from her childhood revolving around Govinda who was a famous dancer/actor by that time. She said, “I remember when I was 12 or 13 years old, he was doing a show at the Shanmukhananda Hall where he was to perform along with Neelam and I forced my parents to take me for it. They performed to I Am A Street Dancer (Ilzaam, 1986) and I was so thrilled that I kept clapping throughout! We have grown up watching and learning from these iconic actors and dancers. I am very fortunate that I got the opportunity to work in so many films and dance with Govinda.” She added, “He taught me how to dance with ‘feel’. While practicing, we would learn the steps and all the technical aspects of the move but when it came to the final take, he would tell me to dance with ‘feel’. It was this ‘feel’ that made our chemistry work on screen and off as well."
