In 2017, while talking to Bollywood Hungama, Irrfan Khan expressed his interest to play lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi in his biopic. Earlier there were talks about Irrfan Khan being approached to play the role of Sahir Ludhianvi in the lyricist’s biopic. “I am hopeful that one day I will be able to play Sahir Ludhianvi. I am dying to play Sahir. I am a huge fan of his and I love him. The way he has changed the scenario in the industry, the kind of lyrics he wrote. He changed the definition of love. He brought in a completely different angle to it. He was not just a writer, he was a philosopher, a great poet with ideas. He brought in new ideas into lyrics. I am dying to play him. You pray for me and I will pray for myself that I get the chance to play him someday.” Sahir Ludhianvi was an Indian poet and film songs lyricist who wrote in the Hindi and Urdu languages. A Padma Shri recipient, Sahir Ludhianvi has worked on films like Kabhie Kabhie, Naya Raasta, Hamraaz and Barsaat Ki Raat among several others.
