“I think it's very important to have an inspiration and only then you can become inspirational for other people. I remember that a year back I had read Sonali's (Bendre) post about what she was going through and I thought 'wow. This woman is so brave. I wonder how does she do all this and cut to I have the same thing.’ I had decided I won't share anything. Few things led me to think otherwise, which includes visits to the doctor and staying on same floor with other patients and trying to figure out the cases which went wrong because lack of awareness and stigma and taboo associated with breasts and breast cancer and late detection. Some cases went really bad and it costs lives. This was a wake- up call," she said. She goes on to add, “The best part about being able to talk is there are so many of energies which are exchanged and I am feeding off a lot of positive energies. Unless and until we have communication, we are living in a bubble. Honestly, I didn’t face even half the problems that I got to know that other women faced. This is the reason why I decided to talk. I didn’t have the problem of no family support or any family member making me feel guilty. I didn’t have any of that and I was really shocked to find that this a very common thing amongst patients that they feel guilty. That is not correct.”
