"I am glad I waited for something like The Family Man because honestly, I had been getting offers to do web series for a real long time. However, I was staying away as I didn't want to do something that I was already familiar with. I wanted to get into a new world. In that aspect I am glad with what directors Raj & DK brought to me. I too researched. This is my take on spies and their lives," says Manoj, who had played a colonel and a sort of a spy himself in Aiyaary last year. Moreover, Salman Khan has already created a Bollywood spy in the Tiger series. While these films were largely stylish affairs with Ek That Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai going into an out and out filmy zone, The Family Man stays true to realism and yet keeps the entertainment quotient on. "See, the part that I am playing here in The Family Man is totally different. Here is this unassuming man who could well be any person walking on the street. The series is actually a tribute to all the middle class guys and how they accomplish the best of the results in the most adverse of circumstances," elaborates Manoj. Those who have watched the series are vouching for the kind of characteristic humour that Raj & DK, known most for their work in Go Goa Gone and Shor In The City, have injected into the screenplay. "That's what makes The Family Man so special since all 10 episodes have a characteristic humour. Here is this guy who gets into serious stuff when he is in a light zone and then humour comes in even when there is so much of dramatic stuff happening around him," chuckles Manoj, "He is someone who doesn’t take anything seriously. His mind is just on his passion which is basically his duty. He doesn’t act or behave like a hero. He is just a middle class family man who is also inherently a world class spy working for his nation." With the kind of out and out positive response that has already been generated, hopefully there would be a second season too soon enough.
