There is jubilation and all kinds of celebrations happening in the Deols and Kapadias homes and it’s all in the family. Last week, Sunny Deol, the BJP candidate from Gurdaspur, won the Lok Sabha polls from the seat while good friend and National Award-winning actress Dimple Kapadia landed a plum role in filmmaker Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Tenet. Legendary singer Asha Bhosle dropped in to wish Sunny on his stunning victory and also congratulated Dimple on her first Hollywood movie. Also present at the meeting were Dimple’s daughter Twinkle and son-in-law Akshay Kumar. Says a source, “Few people realise that Sunny and Dimple have had some fabulous news – all in the same week, one for his political victory and the other for her big ticket to Hollywood. So it was not just high tea for Akshay, Twinkle, Asha Bhosle, Sunny and Dimple at the actress’s spacious Juhu apartment but also a double celebration of sorts which none had the time to enjoy because of the hectic events of the past week. Dimple is known to be a fantastic hostess and her cook had whipped up some delicious Maharastrian delicacies for Asha, who had earlier informed them that she was visiting Dimple’s home in Juhu to congratulate her and Sunny. The actor-producer-director and now turned MP was already there along with Akshay and Twinkle when the legendary singer dropped in. Dimple’s nephew Karan, whose movie Blank (starring Sunny and featuring Akshay in a music video to promote the movie) released earlier this year, was also present.” The source adds, “Last year there were rumours that Akshay was planning to contest the Gurdaspur seat for the Lok Sabha elections this year, but the reports proved untrue as he cannot contest because he possesses a Canadian citizenship. Buzz is, Akshay also had a hand in persuading Sunny to contest the Gurdaspur seat as he is close to the powers-that-be in the BJP. Apparently, at the chai session, everything from politics to Twinkle’s columns and books were discussed. It was a fun, informal yet intimate affair on Sunday consisting of close members of the family.
