Her look in the film was highly appreciated for her uncanny features compared to her muse. NT Kathanayakudu as a film did not do very well at the box office, which was disappointing considering his humongous fandom. Balan’s stylist Rick Roy recently opened up about the difficulties in conquering this challenge. Rick admitted that getting Vidya’s look right from Basava’s younger days was one of the biggest challenges he faced. One of the major reasons being, there were no pictures of her from those days for reference. Roy had to spend time with NTR’s family to find out more about her. He thoroughly studied the styles preferred in those days and cross checked with the team for its authenticity. When he found out that Basava preferred handloom silk sarees that are not available easily these days, he travelled to Chennai back and forth nine times to make sure he had them right.
