Farhan Akhtar, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and others mourn the demise of legendary sprinter Milkha Singh Legendary athlete Milkha Singh, also known as the 'Flying Sikh' passed away on late Friday night(June 18) after a month-long battle with the deadly Coronavirus. He was 91-years-old and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the PGIMER hospital in Chandigarh. He had tested negative for the virus a couple of days back but passed away due to post-COVID complications. His demise comes days after the demise of his wife Nirmal Kaur who had also succumbed to the virus. Soon after the demise of Milkha Singh, celebrities from the film industry paid their final respect and tribute to the sprinter on social media. In 2013, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had made a film on the life of the Flying Sikh with Farhan Akhtar essaying his role. Titled Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, it was one of the biggest hits of the year.
