Ever since the first look of '83 reel-life captain Ranveer Singh came out, the audience has been waiting to witness the history that India charted in 1983 winning the cricket World Cup. The grand poster unveiling event will be held in Chennai, in the presence of the real heroes of India’s Cricket team who brought the World cup home in 1983 along with the reel-life squad of the film '83. The Chennai event will be an extravaganza that will witness a huge turnout!
To take our excitement to a higher note, Ranveer Singh shared a video of the journey that team '83 undertook- from London to Mumbai and how it will go for the official poster unveiled in Chennai in his Instagram story.
In a recent development, two legends of the industry who are well nested in the hearts of the nation, Kamal Haasan’s Raajkamal Films International and Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios have come together with Reliance Entertainment to present the Tamil and Telugu versions of the much-awaited film, '83 respectively.
Chennai will have the actors travel in a special bus named ‘Kapil’s Devils’ and a special 60 feet high installation that will be put at the location. Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna are both well-celebrated personalities and legends of the Indian showbiz. The projects launched by their production and distribution companies have always been special and well acclaimed.
Talking about the new collaboration, Kamal Haasan shares, “I am extremely excited to present the Tamil Version of '83. It’s a matter of pride to promote the film that will recreate the moments of the iconic matches. Not just that, the victory of the Indian team demonstrates to every Indian that where there is a will, there is a way. What was considered impossible was made possible purely due to belief and conviction. And this holds true in all walks of life.”
Adding more, he shares, “It’s my pride to promote a film that stands testimony to such conviction and will. I am happy to bring to my people the story of the team of inspired men captained by Kapil Dev who fought against all odds and won India’s greatest sporting triumph.”
Bringing the Telugu version of 83 to the larger audience, Akkineni Nagarjuna expresses, “'83 is all about the great iconic win in 1983 that has made cricket a religion in India. It is a story that needs to be told and I am proud to present one of the most awaited films in India and the rest of the cricketing world.”
Director of '83 Kabir Khan also says, “I welcome Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna as the presenters and feel privileged to have them be a part of promoting our film in the South”.

Touted to be the biggest sports film of all time, '83 is being co-produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment. The movie is based on the victory of the Indian cricket team in the Cricket World Cup 1983 lead by the all-rounder Kapil Dev.
The makers of '83 also shared the first look poster of the reel-squad. Ranveer Singh will be seen stepping into the shoes of Kapil Dev. Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Jiiva as K. Srikkanth, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad and Nishant Dahiya as Roger Binny, Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Singh Sandhu and Addinath M Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar. Deepika Padukone will be seen playing Romi, Kapil Dev's wife.
Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films present '83, a Kabir Khan Films Production. The film is produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment and 83 Film Ltd. '83 is directed by Kabir Khan. A Reliance Entertainment and PVR Pictures release slated on 10th April 2020 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
