November 26, 2008 is a date Mumbai is never going to forget. A deadly terror attack carried out by ten members of Lashkar-e-Taiba shook the city and cost over 150 lives. As big as turmoil as it was, the attack, however, couldn't dampen Mumbai's undying spirit. Every year, the day is observed as another opportunity to pay deepest respect to the ones who lost their lives in the attack and heroes who sacrificed themselves while saving others.
This year, a bunch of celebrities from Bollywood came together to perform at an event in the city. Actor Anushka Sharma, at the event, delivered a heartfelt performance, reciting a poem dedicated to the Indian soldiers. Written by Naveen Chourey, the poem is an ode to the soldiers who happily take it upon themselves to save the nation, even while living amid difficult weather conditions such as the scorching heat of the desert or the biting cold of the Siachin glacier. “Main dushman se nahi darta, main Bharat ka jawan hoon (I am not afraid of the enemy, I am an Indian soldier", beginning lines of the poem state.
